A Bhojpuri shootout in Banaras
Capturing the majestic beauty of Banaras, a Bhojpuri film , titled Beta, starring Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua and Amrapali Dubey has been canned in various parts of the city. A revenge drama, the film is directed by Vishal Verma . "We have shot at different ghats like Chet Singh and Nandeshwar Ghat and also prominent places like Sarnath and Ramnagar during our 35-day schedule," says Verma who is directing his third Bhojpuri film.
For Nirahua, who has spent a considerable part of his early life in Banaras, the city holds a special place in his heart. "I began my singing career from here (in Banaras) and performed at jagrans. Gradually I got noticed and got a place in Bhojpuri cinema. Though parts of my earlier films have been shot in this area but this is for the first time an entire film has been canned here," he says. Amrapali Dubey, who has appeared in TV shows like 'Rehna Hai Teri Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein', 'Saat Phere', 'Maayaka' and' Mera Naam Karegi Roshan' is happy working in Bhopuri films. "I have no barrier in my mind in terms of small screen or regional cinema. Acting is my first love and for me the character is more important rather than medium," says Amrapali, adding, "I was lucky that I began with television which is a very good platform for any youngster keen on a career in acting. Television teaches you a lot, though it is strenuous at times, due to the hectic work schedule." Amrapali, who has her roots in Gorakhpur, has been born and brought up in Mumbai. "I am not a frequent visitor to Banaras but work has always brought me here. I love Banaras because of the people who are so warm and welcoming. Due to the popularity of Bhojpuri cinema here, it is difficult to roam around freely in Banaras, especially for sightseeing. The other day we went to a mall and we were literally mobbed," she says.
